Parent Portal
By now all parents should have received their log-in information for the new parent portal system. I hope you have all had a chance to log-in and look at it. We are very excited about this new system and the information available to parents. If you have not received this please call the school and we will get you the necessary information to set up your user name and password.
H1N1 Information
The symptoms of the H1N1 influenza virus are similar to those of the seasonal flu with include fever, cough, and/or sore throat. The virus spreads quickly and easily. If you suspect that your child is getting influenza, keep your child home for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone without fever-reducing medications. A fever is defined as 100’F or 37.8’C.
It is also important to teach your child how to reduce their risk of getting influenza and protect others from infection.
- Clean hands frequently – Wash with hot, soapy water for 20 seconds.
- Use hand sanitizer if hand washing facilities are unavailable. Gel, rubs, and hand wipes all work well, as long as they contain at least 60% alcohol.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing/sneezing into the inside of the elbow. It is best not to cough or sneeze into your hands.
- Contact your healthcare provider for information about the H1N1 vaccine and the seasonal vaccine that will be available this fall/winter. Get your children vaccinated with both the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines.
The school and the district are keeping in constant contact with the State Department of Health for any/all updated information.
